2nd day of Peace Forum 2025: Peace Forum 2025 continued for its 2nd day

The Peace Forum 2025, assessment and discussion on “Towards a new nation of peace and prosperity through the integration of peace, elections and development”, continued on June 26, for its second day at the Mingalarthiri Hotel Ballroom in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Peace Forum saw the attendance of Chairman of National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee Lt-Gen. Yar Pyae, Committee Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, and committee members. Also present were retired senior military officers, representatives from the Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (JMC), representatives from political parties, and delegates from both NCA signatory and non-signatory ethnic armed organizations.

Individuals involved and those who should be involved in the peace process, experts, Director-Generals from the Union Ministries and organizations, university professors, representatives from non-governmental international and domestic organizations, various associations, media, and observers also attended.

The participants were divided into two groups for discussions. In the morning session, Committee Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing chaired the Group 1, while Committee member Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein (Retired) chaired the Group 2. Both groups discussed the topic: "Successfully Holding Elections (Current Situation of the State and Importance of Elections; Measures to be Taken for Holding Free and Fair Elections and Establishing a Dignified Parliament)." In the afternoon session, Dr. Nyo Nyo Thin chaired the Group 1, leading discussions on "Identifying Methods for Cooperation towards Peace, Transparent Elections, and State Stability and Development." In Group 2, Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein chaired, and the topic for discussion was "Identifying the Role of the International Community in Supporting Peace and Development in Building a Post-Election, Democracy and Federal-Based Union." Attendees shared their views and asked questions, to which the lead discussants provided clarifications and responses. The third day of the Peace Forum will continue on June 27, it’s learnt.
