Rural Development : MCRD Union Minister inspects work undertakings

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein, accompanied by concerned officials inspected rural road improvements, small-scale business development and flood rehabilitation activities in Danubyu and Laymyethna townships, Ayeyawady Region on Friday.

In Danubyu Township, the Union Minster and party inspected the completed concrete upgrade of the Phat Thaung–ThabawThapyu–Thongwa  inter-village road, which benefits 18 villages, 1,301 households and more than 5,800 people.

He also encouraged trainees who had completed basic and advanced vocational training courses and inspected tailoring businesses established with support equipment. In Laymyethna Township, they met with cooperative farmers in SaYayKwin Village and provided seeds, agricultural inputs and fuel to support the replanting of flood-damaged monsoon paddy fields.

The Union Minister also inspected paddy harvesting and land preparation activities. The Union Minister and party later met with staff at the Township Department of Rural Development. The Union Minister instructed officials to urgently coordinate rehabilitation plans for flood-affected villages and provided basic foodstuff and cash prizes to the staff.

They subsequently inspected Pauk Kone village road repairs, mobile water purification operations at Ai Tha Pyu village and the restoration of Shan Ywar-Kyaung Su-Yay Nauk village roads. The Union Minister instructed officials to carry out temporary repairs on 97 flood-affected roads and bridges and submit plans for durable restoration.

They also inspected the cleaning and air-flushing of flood-submerged wells at Choke Kalay ချုပ်ကလေး (South) village to prevent waterborne diseases. Across five flood-affected Laymyethna, Hinthada, Kyonpyaw, KyaungKone and Yekyi townships in Ayeyawady Region, 873 tube wells and 784 hand-pump wells in 333 villages were cleaned and air-flushed, while 5,876 wells were treated with chlorine.
