Deputy Minister for Industry and MSME Development U Thwin Aung inspected the No. 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet) in Taunggyi of Shan State on October 2. The project includes 22 workshops, of which 20 have already been successfully installed and test-operated.
Work is underway to complete and operate the remaining Waste Heat Recovery Power System (HRPS) and Romelt Shop as soon as possible. During the inspection, the Deputy Minister met with Russian experts from Tyazhpromexport Co., Ltd. (TPE) and factory staff.
He instructed to complete the installation work according to schedule, ensure workplace safety, prepare for upcoming tasks, and work together to overcome challenges. He also urged factory staff to learn technical skills from the foreign experts so they can independently operate and maintain the machinery.
Once the HRPS is completed, it is expected to generate 40 megawatts of electricity. About 32 megawatts will be used by the steel mill, while the remaining 8 megawatts can be supplied to the national power grid.
