Central Committee Meeting : Reconstruction fund for quake-affected areas

The Central Committee for Supervision of the Reconstruction Fund for Areas affected by the Mandalay Earthquake held its meeting on Friday at the Zabuthiri Hall of the Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw.

Chairperson of the Central Committee and Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Dr. Khin Naing Oo attended the meeting and made an opening remark. The Governor said the 2025 Mandalay earthquake damaged homes and businesses in six regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw.

She emphasized that the government is providing reconstruction loans through a state-funded scheme. To date, 12 loans totaling 8.11 billion kyats have been disbursed to civil servants, MSMEs, large factories, hotels and education, covering Home, Reconstruction, Working Capital and Fixed Capital loans.

She also urged all members to cooperate to ensure the concessional loan scheme achieves its intended purpose. At the meeting, the committee reviewed and approved 10 additional loans totaling 24.75 billion kyats, submitted by five authorized banks, comprising one civil servant loan and nine business loans. The meeting was concluded with closing remarks by the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar.
