Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu inspected the water level and riverbank conditions along the Ayeyawady River in Aphyauk of Taikkyi Township on Friday.

Together with officials, the Chief Minister inspected emergency supplies, medicines, protective equipment and search-and-rescue equipment prepared for possible natural disasters.

They then inspected the river and flood protection embankments as well as training for 60 local residents in basic boat operation, engine testing and practical boat driving to support evacuation efforts in case of flooding.

The Chief Minister and party later visited a riverbank erosion protection site in Patone Pate  Village, where officials reported on the ongoing riverbank protection work. The Chief Minister gave further instructions and inspected the measures being carried out.
