









The ceremony marking the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Myanmar Coast Guard was held on Tuesday at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Thanlyin Cantonment, attended by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army), General Kyaw Swar Lin, who delivered an address.
According to the agenda, the opening ceremony of the Recreation Center commemorating the 5th anniversary was held first, during which a responsible official presented a brief overview regarding its construction. Afterwards, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) pressed the button to formally open the Recreation Center and sprinkled scented water on the commemorative plaque. In his congratulatory address, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) stated that the Head of State, with great foresight, established the Myanmar Coast Guard in 2021.
He highlighted that maritime affairs are deeply interconnected with broad international issues, legal matters, technical standards, disaster management, and humanitarian affairs. He encouraged and urged everyone to work together to build the Myanmar seas into a secure, peaceful, clean, and more productive maritime region.
Following the address, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) watched a commemorative video documentary on the Coast Guard. He then toured the commemorative exhibition booths, shops, and a search-and-rescue vessel set up to mark the 5th anniversary.
Next, in the meeting room of the Coast Guard Headquarters, the Director-General briefed the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) on the operational duties and capabilities of the Coast Guard, as well as the progress made in fulfilling its target objectives.
In response, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) noted that since the tasks of different units vary, inter-service coordination and collaboration are essential, and he gave necessary directives. Afterward, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected the implementation of agricultural and livestock farming activities carried out for the welfare of families within the Coast Guard Headquarters compound.
