Renewable Energy: Workshop on expansion of solar power in Myanmar

A workshop on expanding the use of solar energy in Myanmar was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

Union Minister for Electric Power and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin attended the opening ceremony, and made a speech, saying that increasing electricity supply is essential for the country's development and stressed that Myanmar is seeking to diversify its energy sources beyond hydropower and natural gas.

He highlighted solar power as a key renewable energy source and encouraged both grid-connected solar projects and household solar systems. The workshop brought together government officials, engineers, business representatives, and local and international companies to discuss technical challenges and practical solutions for expanding solar energy use. Around 475 participants attended the event.
