Presidential Electoral College: 2nd Day meeting of Amyotha Hluttaw PEC held

The second day meeting of the group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives participating in the Third Amyotha Hluttaw Presidential Electoral College was held on March 31st, at 10:00 AM in the Amyotha Hluttaw meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw. Out of the 157 Hluttaw representatives eligible to attend, 155 were present.

 

According to the agenda, the Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw announced the list of vice-presidential candidates. As there were two nominees, a secret ballot was conducted using voting papers to make the selection.

 

Afterwards, the Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw announced that Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye from Kayin State, State Hluttaw Proportional Representation System Constituency No. 1, having received the highest number of supporting votes, had been elected as Vice President.

 

Subsequently, the Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw announced that the name of Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, the Vice President elected by the group of elected Amyotha Hluttaw representatives, would be submitted to the Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. The meeting was adjourned at 11:18 AM, it’s reported.
