Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo attended and observed the performance of the "Vidura" Jataka, presented to preserve Myanmar's traditional cultural heritage, at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday evening.
The drama performance was also attended by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Kyaw Swar Lin, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, and responsible officials. The "Vidura" Jataka is the ninth among the Ten Great Jatakas (Ten Lives of the Buddha).
It vividly illustrates the Bodhisattva Vidura the Wise’s exceptional wisdom, truthfulness, moral integrity, and steadfast resolve—demonstrating how he never abandoned truth regardless of the severity of dangers and difficulties, and how he cherished and upheld moral virtue by correctly analyzing and resolving situations through wisdom.
It is reported that the grand drama is performed with the objectives of enabling people to realize the benefits of wisdom rooted in pure and upright morality, to understand and practice the Four Virtues of Good Conduct, to recognize and avoid the evil consequences and pitfalls of gambling, and to cultivate righteous virtues and the Seven Noble Treasures while appreciating the performance of the “Vidura” Jataka.
