Myanmar has introduced an upgraded Bar Code/QR Code system for fuel sales starting March 27, 2026, in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay, and Taunggyi. The system enables fuel purchases based on each vehicle’s engine capacity, helping to reduce long queues and improve convenience. Authorities are also monitoring fuel sales online through a central system.

Deputy Minister for Energy U Kyaw Naing Win, along with other officials, supervised the implementation process. Fuel is being sold according to designated limits, and the government has assured that supply is sufficient, urging the public not to worry or overbuy.

The system will be expanded to more areas in the near future. Vehicles unable to use QR codes can still purchase fuel through manual record-keeping. Inspection teams are also conducting on-site checks at fuel stations. Public who encounter difficulties can contact the call center for assistance.
