




The Ministry of Energy has released an announcement regarding the sale of fuel using upgraded Bar Code/QR Code System and request for cooperation.
In the announcement, it’s stated that in purchasing fuel, the allowable quantity determined according to vehicle engine capacity, system to be implemented starting from March 27th 2026 in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, Yangon, Mandalay, Taunggyi and to be extended to other cities, in this system -fuel station staff will only scan the vehicle if the Hologram security mark is present on the vehicle's Wheel Tax certificate, For petrol and diesel vehicles, the vehicle number, the weekly purchase quota, the amount already purchased, and the remaining purchase amount will be displayed, The designated quota must be fully purchased within the week, Vehicles such as long-distance special buses, social welfare vehicles, ambulances, funeral service vehicles, municipal garbage trucks, and water tanker trucks will not have designated quotas, cargo trucks must use the QR code system to refuel only at fuel stations located outside city limits, for tractors, agricultural machinery used in the industrial agriculture sector, household industries, and generators, fuel will be sold based on completion of a designated form from the Ministry of Energy, with records kept at the nearest fuel stations.
