A ceremony was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, to pay respect to the retired military officers who are going to attend the 81st anniversary Armed Forces Day Parade on March 27.

Vice Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Vice Senior General Soe Win extended greetings at the event, stressing the successful holding of the free and fair multi-party democracy general election, with the participation of 54.28% of the eligible voters in 263 townships through three phases of election.

He added that currently Hluttaw sessions are underway with the attendance of elected representatives, for the emergence of new government. Likewise in Tatmadaw, there will be changes in the leadership, but the Tatmadaw will keep on continue serving for the national defence duty in line with the government's policy, following the path laid down by the successive leaders.

This was followed by paying respect to the senior military officers by the attendees led by the Vice Senior General and wife. Retired General Thein Sein urged to strive for capable Tatmadaw, highlighting its role for stability of the country, rule of law and socio-economic development.
