






Myanmar is making full preparations for the upcoming 2026 Thingyan Festival in April, aiming for greater public participation and a more lively and peaceful celebration. The second coordination meeting for the successful holding of the festival was held at the Taninthayi Region Government Office in Dawei on Tuesday.
Acting Chief Minister and Minister for Security and Border Affairs, Colonel Thein Zaw Myint, stressed the importance of effective coordination to ensure success. He urged committee members to report on completed tasks, address challenges and work together, while also highlighting the need to reduce fuel consumption.
The meeting also discussed on preparations for the central Thingyan pavilion, including opening and closing ceremonies, award presentations, entertainment programs, catering, transportation, accommodation and water splashing activities. Plans for Thingyan dance competitions, walking Thingyan, invitations, media coordination, and health services were also reviewed. Traditional and religious activities such as fish release, offerings to the elderly, Paritta recitations and promotion of Thanakha culture and traditional tea customs were also included, along with security measures and financial arrangements.
