Coordination Meeting: Matters on Outstanding Students Program discussed

The coordination meeting of the Central Committee for the Outstanding Students Program for the 2025-2026 academic year was held on March 9th at the meeting hall of Office No. (13) of the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Deputy Ministers Dr. Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing, Deputy Ministers from relevant ministries, Directors-General, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, and responsible officials.

First, the Union Minister stated that the names of the selected outstanding students have already been announced in newspapers. The selection process covered both the basic education and higher education sectors. For the 2025-2026 academic year, a total of 460 students from the basic education sector have been published in state-owned newspapers.

The Department of Higher Education is continuing to publish a total of 291 outstanding students for the 2025-2026 academic year in the newspapers. She encouraged the attendees to discuss and designate the camps for these outstanding students.

Subsequently, Central Committee Secretary (1), Director-General of the Department of Higher Education Dr. Than Zaw Oo, and Central Committee Secretary (2), Director-General of the Department of Basic Education U Kyaw Swar Thwin, presented explanations regarding the implementation of the Outstanding Students Project and the plans for future activities.

Following this, Deputy Ministers and responsible officials from relevant ministries provided suggestions and discussed various matters. Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, along with Deputy Ministers Dr. Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing, addressed the discussions and provided necessary clarifications.

The attendees then collectively discussed the designation of camps for the outstanding students for the 2025-2026 academic year to facilitate sending them to respective camps. They also discussed arrangements for the ceremony to seek guidance from the Head of State, as well as the procedures to be undertaken and possible support that could be provided. Afterwards, in her concluding remarks, Union Minister emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts from all relevant ministries to ensure the successful implementation of the Outstanding Students Program, it’s reported.
