




The signing ceremony for ten Memorandums of Understanding on implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIP) between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Nay Pyi Taw on 17th November 2025.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Deputy Ministers from relevant Ministries, senior officials and the Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur, the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Ashish Sharma, and the representatives from the Embassy of India.
The ceremony featured the signing of ten Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including Improvement of Digital Preservation of Public Records, Provision of household solar systems for ethnic people affected by the earthquake in the Inlay Region, Replacement of Artwork at Mahar Myat Muni Pagoda in Mandalay Region, Dairy Buffalo Development in Myanmar, Enhancing Agricultural Productivity through distribution of registered and certified Cotton and Black Matpe seeds to Cooperative Member Farmers in Myanmar, The Purchase of a JCB Mini Excavator with a Breaker Gun” The Purchase of Non-Destructive Test (NDT) devices for structures damaged by an earthquake, Establishment of an Offline English Language Lab in Myanmar, A project plan to obtain High Quality and High Yield Varieties of Cotton and Black Gram for the Development of Agricultural Sector in Sagaing Region, Solar Water Pumping System Using Renewable Energy.
The MOUs were signed on behalf of the Government of India by Mr. Ashish Sharma, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India. The Indian Government will grant total amount of 489,735 USD and Joint Project Monitoring Committees (JPMC) will be formed in order to oversee and facilitate the progress of the projects.
The Quick Impact Projects are implemented under the Framework Agreement on Quick Impact Projects (QIPs), signed between the Government of Myanmar and the Government of India with the grant amounting to 50,000 USD per project. Five projects for 2023-2024 fiscal year and ten projects for 2024-2025 fiscal year were implemented. For 2025-2026 fiscal year, ten QIP projects will be implemented and additional QIP projects for coming fiscal years are being negotiated with the Indian Government to further support Myanmar’s socio-economic development, it’s learnt.
