The Ministry of Electricity and Energy is expanding electricity generation from various energy sources while intensifying efforts to reduce power losses by promoting the systematic electricity usage and cracking down on illegal power consumption.

The ministry is forming inspection teams to identify and take action against illegal electricity consumption, while adopting the Smart Meter billing system and introducing a digital billing and monitoring system to detect and prevent illegal power consumption.

Illegal electricity users are urged to report to the relevant department by July 31, 2026, to receive relief measures. After the deadline, illegal electricity use detected through the Control Centers will be subject to fines, meter suspension or cancellation and possible revocation of business licenses in accordance with the Electricity Law. The public are also urged to report illegal power consumption through its designated call center numbers.
