Rural road development : MCRD UM attended meeting on rural road development

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended the coordination meeting and prize presenting ceremony organized by the Department of Rural Road Development, held at the meeting hall of the Department in Nay Pyi Taw on June 16. At the event, the Union Minister delivered a speech and presented awards to the outstanding personnel.

In his address, Union Minister U Hla Moe emphasized that the country’s overall development and efforts to alleviate poverty in rural areas largely depend on efficient transportation within those areas. Therefore, good rural road connectivity plays a crucial role.

He stressed that the Department of Rural Road Development must continue to upgrade and construct new rural roads and bridges to ensure that rural communities can easily and quickly transport agricultural and fishery products to markets in a timely manner. He also urged the department to collaborate with relevant departments and local communities to improve irrigation access and regional development roads by utilizing department-owned vehicles and machinery.

The Union Minister encouraged departmental staff to serve rural communities with dedication and compassion, and to carry out their duties efficiently and proactively.

Following that, Director General U Soe Tun Naing and heads of the Department of Rural Road Development from Regions and States presented updates on the progress of their respective works.

Then, Deputy Minister U Myint Soe discussed and provided feedback on the reports submitted by the region and state directors, while the Director Generals of related departments discussed the inter-departmental collaboration plans for future rural development efforts.

After that, Union Minister U Hla Moe and officials presented performance and excellence awards for the 2024–2025 fiscal year to deserving personnel.

The Union Minister and officials then inspected the repaired office building, which had been damaged by an earthquake, and observed the current work conditions and activities of staff members.
