Inspection of farmland: MoALI UM inspected the flood affected farmlands

In the second week of September, due to flooding, damaged farmland is being supported for replanting in time for the season by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation.

On the November 5, Union Minister U Min Naung inspected the farming activities in Thitseint Pin village, Pyinmana Township, Naypyidaw Council area, where 95 acres of land were being plowed by large tractors from the Agricultural Mechanization Department for planting winter crops, including chickpeas and mung beans.

It was learned that the relevant farmers provided fuel for the tractors, which belong to the Department and that the plowing was conducted free of charge.The Union Minister continued to inspect the progress on water channels and drainage systems in the Paung Laung irrigation system, which had been damaged by the floods.

He examined the preparations for planting winter crops, ensuring the targeted acreage, adequate water supply, and expected crop yields, and discussed related matters with the responsible personnel.The Union Minister then visited the Paung Laung Reservoir, which overflowed in September, causing significant water flow beyond the normal levels.

He examined the affected areas and advised officials to conduct timely repairs for the safety of the dam. He also emphasized the use of durable designs to ensure long-term resilience and urged proactive measures based on rainfall forecasts for the dam and irrigation channels.

Moreover, the Union Minister inspected the successful collaborative efforts of relevant departments and farmers to cultivate monsoon rice in areas affected by the floods. He observed preparations for winter crop planting in fields where plowing had already been done on the damaged farmland.
