




The Anti-Money Laundering Central Board held its meeting on Friday. Chairman of the Central Board Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Nyunt Win Swe attended the meeting and made a speech.
He said Myanmar has completed 3 of the 5 remaining action items required under the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plan, with 2 items still outstanding before it can improve its compliance status. He highlighted the enactment of a new Anti-Money Laundering Law in March 2026, ongoing work on implementing regulations, and efforts to strengthen financial investigations and cooperation among government agencies.
The Union Minister also stressed the importance of fighting online scams, illegal gambling, terrorist financing, and money laundering, while continuing work to implement the national AML/CFT strategy (2024–2028).
He urged all to make preparations for Myanmar's 2030 Mutual Evaluation under international AML/CFT standards. Participants reviewed progress in their respective sectors and discussed further measures to strengthen anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing efforts.
