Typhoon Yagi's devastating impact in September brought widespread destruction and loss of life across several regions of Myanmar.
One of the severely impacted areas is ChaungKanGyi Village, where residents have suffered severe flooding and damage to their homes and livelihoods. The village, like many others, faces a challenging recovery process.
In a bid to bring relief to those affected, a donation ceremony was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
The event marked a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Labor and the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Federation (MOEAF), uniting to provide much-needed assistance to flood affected victims.
During the ceremony, essential relief items including kitchen utensils, instant noodles, and other basic necessities were generously donated to support 1,030 residents across 260 households.
One of the villagers shared his experience of struggling through the flooding, expressing heartfelt thanks for the generous donations from the Ministry of Labor and MOEAF.
ChaungKanGyi Village, Head of 100 households, HtayNaing, said "When Typhoon Yagi hit, the water levels rose so quickly, flooding many homes in our village. But thankfully, both the residents and our livestock managed to move to safer places just in time, so we didn’t suffer any severe losses. We’ve received many donations from different organizations, and we’re really thankful for all the support. I want to thank the Ministry of Labor for their generous contributions, along with everyone else who has helped us."
Despite the challenges posed by Typhoon Yagi, various governmental and private organizations, along with generous donors, have extended their support to those affected.
Through these collaborative efforts, the devastated communities are better equipped to cope with the situation, making recovery more achievable in the face of disaster.
