Donors across the nation: Well-wishers focused on what most in need

Due to the recent floods and landslides caused by the natural disasters within the country, ongoing donations are being made to support the affected communities by the government, domestic and international well-wishers, relevant organizations, and local charitable groups.

On September 23, charitable organizations, companies, and private donors provided cash and supplies such as medicines, food items like rice and cooking oil, and household goods to the areas in need.

Aung Zin Phyo, Daik-U Township, Bago Region, said " We come here to donate foodstuff, clothes and other household items. We will donate to the flood victims in Pyinmana Township. We received information about the severe flood through online. Our group of friends gathered and talked over donation for the flood affected people. We make this donation with the fund collected among us and contributions of others."

Similarly, to assist and support the flood-affected communities in their recovery and rebuilding efforts, charitable organizations, donors, and relevant agencies are collaborating to raise funds and collect donations in Yangon. Musicians and artists are also organizing concerts to raise funds for this cause.

Sweet (Film Actor, Raegay Singer), Kyimyindaing Township, Yangon Region, said " We come from Kyimyaindaing Township of Yangon Region to donate in Thayettaw Village in Zabbuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw. We raised fund by entertaining with songs in some Townships of Yangon. We will donate foodstuff, clothes and household items worth over 10 millions."

Yan Shin (performer), Kyimyindaing Township, Yangon Region, said " Since aftermath of this flood, a lot of artistes has been taking part in the fund raising entertainments to donate the flood victims. As one of the public, I can’t be stay-at-home at this time, I think, I should be a part of contributors. We raised approximately 10 million funds and other donation items such as foodstuff, clothes and household items donated by generous people."

Due to the subsequent heavy rains and floods caused by Typhoon Yagi, 56 townships in eight states and regions, including Nay Pyi Taw, were flooded, damaging roads, bridges, residences, office buildings, schools, and other infrastructure. As of 18 September, 268 people had been killed, 47 were injured, and 88 were missing, according to the National Disaster Management Committee.
