On September 23rd, the Ministry of Education convened a work coordination meeting on the prompt reopening of flood-hit schools in Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, various regions and states, with the attendance of Union Minister Dr. Nyunt Pe and other relevant officials.

During the meeting, Union Minister urged the swift preparation of flood-hit schools for reopening by October. He emphasized the need for substitute teaching to cover missed lessons and for students in relief camps to have the chance to retake missed exams.

The Union Minister called on all relevant personnel to assist with cleaning school facilities and ensuring drinking water access. He also mandated the submission of progress reports every 10 days to evaluate progress.

Following the Union Minister’s speech, Deputy Ministers Dr. Zaw Myint and Dr. Moe Zaw Tun called on meeting attendees to present plans for substitute teaching on weekends to cover missed lessons as well as to conduct an assessment of damaged schools and provide a detailed estimate of lost furniture.

As part of these efforts, an official reported that the Basic Education Department is actively pursuing initiatives to enhance water access and provide essential teaching aids for students. The meeting concluded with the respective reports and an in-depth roundtable discussion addressing the specific needs of attendees.
