
Due to strong winds and heavy rain coming from the east, rice fields in the Naypyidaw Council area have been flooded and damaged a demonstration event for providing agricultural inputs to rehabilitate the damaged fields due to the flooding was held in Kyopin village of Zeyathiri Township on September 23 and attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Chairman of Naypyidaw Council U Than Tun, deputy ministers, council members, department officials, and local farmers.
During the event, the Union Minister highlighted that the two storms occurring in September had caused significant rainfall in some regions of Myanmar, leading to the flooding of rivers, streams, and fields within the Naypyidaw Council area. As a result, rice fields were submerged, resulting in severe losses. He emphasized the urgent need for timely efforts to replant the damaged rice fields and to implement rehabilitation activities to minimize losses. The minister noted that it is essential for farmers to understand and adopt effective methods for rehabilitating the affected fields due to flooding. The event aimed to provide practical demonstrations to ensure that farmers could learn and apply these techniques effectively.
Next, the chairman of the Naypyidaw Council gave a remark saying that the impact of flooding on crops, the need for timely replanting of damaged fields, and the council's collaboration with relevant departments to ensure effective rehabilitation efforts.
Following this, the Director-General of the Department of Agriculture presented important technical aspects that needed attention.
During the event, Union Minister and the chairman of the Naypyidaw Council provided support to farmers from various townships within the council area affected by flooding, including Zeyathiri, Pobba Thiri, Ottarathiri, Pyinmana, Lewe, and Tatkone, by supplying urea, potash, and chemical fertilizers.
After that, officials addressed questions and concerns raised by the attending farmers. They demonstrated preparation for replanting efforts for the flooded rice fields, including methods for spraying fertilizers and the mixing of chemical and natural fertilizers for effective rehabilitation.
