Relief Measures: Kayah State Government provides assistance

Kayah State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, accompanied by relevant officials handed over essential rescue and relief supplies to the State Fire Services Department on Sunday.

Funded by the state government for flood relief operations, these supplies were received by the Director of the State Fire Services Department. The Chief Minister and party then inspected 14 types of relief items for 100 flood-hit households and instructed the officials to ensure an orderly distribution.

Next, they conducted a tour of Namt Kut and MinSu wards to evaluate the extent of the flooding, observing the submerged schools and homes, as well as the flooding at Kandarawati Bridge. In the afternoon, the Chief Minister and party attended a ceremony at Moe Kaung Pagoda to provide essential food supplies and cash to flood affected victims.

As a direct consequence of super Typhoon Yagi, the floodwaters inundated Loikaw Township, entering through the Mobye Dam. In response, the Chief Minister emphasized that proactive prevention and relief efforts by the state government had resulted in no reported injuries.

Plans are currently underway to establish systematic accommodation and security in temporary relief camps for residents' convenience. Although schools remain closed due to the floods, relevant officials are facilitating students' learning in alternative schools.

During the ceremony, the Kayah state government and Disaster Management Department donated over 3.8 million kyat worth of rice bags, edible oil and other essential food items to 507 flood-affected households.
