Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a meeting on boosting production of local products in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

In his opening speech, the Prime Minister highlighted that the meeting had invited Chief Ministers from regions and states that have shown excellent results in agriculture, livestock production, and MSME products.

These regions and states, including the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, have a combined population of over 40 million, accounting for four-fifths of the country's total population.

With more than 40 million acres of agricultural land, these regions and states play a major role in the nation's economic development.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to meet local demand with domestically produced goods, as well as to export surplus agricultural and livestock products. He urged all attendees to engage in exclusive discussions for the benefit of the country.

The Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council and the Chief Ministers of Sagaing, Bago, Magwe, Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions and Shan State reported on their respective undertakings in agriculture, sufficiency of rice and edible oil, expanded farmland acreage, efforts to increase yield per acre, provision of agricultural inputs, the fishery industry, and expanded implementation of the livestock sector to ensure local food sufficiency.

In response to the reports, the Prime Minister instructed to strive for increased agricultural production and the production of high-quality products for both the local and international markets, utilizing modern techniques.

Member of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and the Union Ministers also discussed various efforts in agriculture, including the provision of fertilizers, loan disbursements, the formation of cooperative associations, and market penetration for export items.

In his conclusion, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to attract more investments in the agriculture and livestock sector, urging adherence to the Farmland Law. He stressed the importance of conducting research on crops that require attention and striving for both local sufficiency and export success.

The Prime Minister called for a focus on the development of MSME industries based on agricultural and livestock products.
