




The tearing off the roof, peeling of the galvanized iron sheets and falling down of ceiling took place at almost every school building of the Technical High School due to the very severe cyclonic storm "Mocha" made landfall on 14th May.
Now, the priority works of school repairing have completed, said Ko Than Htaik Aung, In-Charge of Technical High School Repairing and Reconstruction.
In-Charge, Technical High School Repairing and Reconstruction, Than Htaik Aung, said "We places a main 3-storey building as the first priority task. Roof installation for that building has already completed hundred percent. The second one is students’ dormitory 3-storey building with 3 apartments in each floor. It is now 60% completed while multiple tasks are required for the damaged roofs including rafters and purlins. The additional 4-storey building with four apartments in each floors has completed 70% also. Roof installation for these 3 priority school buildings will be completed hundred percent by tomorrow. We also put efforts to be completed in time."
Due to the storm, 18 school buildings damaged. Among them, three major school building were repaired giving priority.
It's learnt that the GI sheets and hollow iron bars are being transported. The repairing works of school buildings will be done depending on the arrival of the construction materials, said, Ko Than Htaik Aung.
In-Charge, Technical High School Repairing and Reconstruction, Than Htaik Aung, said "At present, as there are some difficulties in ordering the materials, based on the arrival of materials, roof repairing works will be completed 100% in 2 weeks. We cannot say details for the additional water and electricity works at present. We need to calculate and adjust between damaging amount, ordering amount and arrival amount of materials. So, we cannot say exactly for those sectors currently."
The initial tasks such as cleaning the school compound and buildings and calculating cost of materials were done before the beginging of repairing works since 26th of May for the storm-torn technical high school.
The Myanmar Licensed Contractors Public Co., Ltd is undertaking the rehabilitation and reconstrucion works of University of Computer Studies (Sittwe) and Government Technical High Schools.
