Denmark's Queen Margrethe II on Saturday celebrated her Golden Jubilee at Copenhagen's city hall, after twice delaying the festivities.
The coronavirus pandemic cancelled the original date in January. Margrethe, Europe's longest reigning monarch, rode a horse carriage through the streets of Copenhagen before waving to the public from city hall's balcony, marking her 50 years on the throne.
Margrethe was proclaimed queen on January 15, 1972, a day after her father King Frederik IX, died. In attendance at city hall were heir to the throne Crown Prince Frederik, and his wife, Crown Princess Mary, as well as Margrethe's youngest son Prince Joachim and his wife, Princess Marie.
