Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, while revealing that talks between Iran and Oman regarding the waterway have yielded positive progress.

Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesman, said that communications between the two sides are ongoing. He emphasized that these discussions have nothing to do with the United States but a purely bilateral matter between Iran and Oman. According to a report by Iran’s Fars News Agency citing official sources, six vessels shut off their navigation and positioning systems in the early hours of Monday morning and attempted to transit through a southern channel of the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian authorities described the route as “illegal and unsafe.”
