Iran said on Monday it is not currently engaged in negotiations with the United States, despite a pause in recent fighting between the two countries.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran had not requested talks and that while intermediaries may relay messages from Washington on regional developments, there are no direct negotiations underway. The comments came as regional officials said mediators led by Qatar and Pakistan were making progress in efforts to revive an interim ceasefire arrangement. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has paused daily strikes on Iran, with U.S. officials saying Washington remains prepared for further military action while allowing space for diplomacy.
