Typhoon Muifa makes landfall, heads for Shanghai

Typhoon Muifa made its first landfall Wednesday night in the Chinese city of Zhoushan in Zhejiang Province.The Chinese Central Meteorological Observatory has issued the first red typhoon warning of the year as Muifa may become the strongest typhoon to land in China this year.

Shanghai shut down its metro and cancelled flights ahead of the storm's landing and relocated nearly 400,000 people as the city braced for impact.Winds reached 77 miles per hour upon landfall.Muifa will continue to pass through China's eastern coast, primarily in Jiangsu province.
