Himachal Pradesh, in northern India, has installed a high-tech Early Warning System at Ghepan Lake in Lahaul-Spiti to monitor potential glacial lake outburst floods. Located at an altitude of approximately 13,450 feet above sea level, the lake is being monitored through a system installed with assistance from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing in Pune.

The system comprises three modern monitoring units designed to continuously track changes and unusual activity in the glacial lake. The system aims to improve disaster preparedness by detecting unusual changes in the lake and alerting authorities to potential threats.
