At least 19 dead, 25 hurt in stampede at India religious gathering

At least 19 people were killed and many others injured in a stampede at a religious gathering in eastern India on Saturday.

West Bengal's Chief Minister Suvendhu Adhikari told reporters that 25 other people were injured outside a pavilion "in a stampede" at the Hindu festival of Durga Puja in the city of Kolkata. It also said police have taken the closed-circuit footage of the festival and authorities would initiate action against those seen on CCTV who appeared to fail in their responsibility for crowd control.
