


The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) reported 10,586 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, exceeding 10,000 cases in one day after over 5 months.
"The number of confirmed locally transmitted cases in Hong Kong on Thursday was 10,342, of which 3,091 were identified through nucleic acid tests, and 7,251 were detected through rapid antigen testing," said Chuang Shuk Kwan, head of the Communicable Disease Branch of the Center for Health Protection In Hong Kong.
"In addition, 244 imported cases were reported," she added. Two new Omicron sub variants, BA.4 and BA.5, are spreading rapidly in Hong Kong. The HKSAR government will lower the age limit of the Vaccine Pass to 5, according to Kwan.
