Satellite for health research will launch next year

The world’s first remote sensing satellite for health research ‘People Hospital of Wuhan University Health Satellite’ has already entered into the project initiation and R&D phase. The satellite provides health, population, and environmental data, demonstrating the application of remote sensing technology for medical purposes.

The sensing satellite will also serve in the medical remote sensing application fields such as source tracking of infectious diseases, analyzing of endemic diseases, monitoring of health and longevity factors, prevention and control of post-disaster epidemics, and transmission of public diseases.

With the launching of this satellite, it will be available for scientists from all over China or even around the world. The satellite’s designed load weighs about 50 kilograms and is equipped with a visible light hyper-spectral camera, an ultraviolet camera, and others. The satellite will be developed by August 2023 and launched before October 2023.
