





Sales of religious items which have been stopped market demands during the COVID-19 period are now improved back along with the new normal lifestyle.
The business owners developed new forms of market expansions in this period using electronic payment system and online selling.
Owner, Thamata Religious Goods Store, Nay Yaung Ko said "We have to change economic activities while we are in new normal lifestyle. So, we need to keep in touch with time flows and run with creating modern ideas. Traditional way of selling is not that much for now. Being Buddhist country, I believe market for religious items is only about to be improved in the future."
The religious products include Buddha statues, preaching thrones, robes and related subjects like gongs, bells and among others. The price of robes is varied depending on quality of fabrics and cuttings. It stands at a price between around 20,000 kyats to 200,000 kyats. The Buddha statues are also among the bestselling items.
Owner, Thamata Religious Goods Store, Nay Yaung Ko said "3 feet sizes of Buddha are widely used for paying worship. It’s between 400,000 kyats to 800,000 kyats depending on the quality of marble stones. Most of the bronze Buddha statues are around the size of 18 inches for home use with the value of different prices starting from over 300,000 kyats. 3 to 5 feet of Buddha statues are the bestselling sizes in the market with their current price."
The religious items are mainly produced in Mandalay region and it has been distributed to other regions and states.
The industrialists said they rely on rail transportation since it was cost effective, and hope for timely schedule of trains.
Owner, Thamata Religious Goods Store, Nay Yaung Ko said "Transportation fees get high along with the increase of costs at the workplace. We distribute by bus and by train. So, we prefer trains for distribution the products as we can reduce the costs and it will be more convenient if we get more right time and easy access system for the transportation. "
