Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw inspected ongoing measures to prevent erosion and block water channels at a damaged section of the Ngawun River embankment in Laymyethna Township of Hinthada District on Thursday.

Officials reported on sand dredging and filling works, installation of geo-bags, sandbags, steel sheet piles and other structures to prevent further erosion and block water from entering through the damaged section. The Chief Minister instructed relevant departments to work together closely and complete the protection works as soon as possible.

He later met with flood-affected residents at a monastery in Kwan Chan Kone (East) Village and stressed to restore damaged areas and help residents resume their daily lives and livelihoods after the floodwaters recede. The regional government also provided rice, relief supplies, cash assistance and other support to flood victims. Assistance was also provided to relief camps, rescue personnel, firefighters and other people affected by the floods.
