Agriculture Sector in Bago : Meeting on agricultural production and target yields

Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win attended a work coordination meeting on increasing agricultural production and achieving target yields at the Bago Region Government Office on Friday.

In his speech, he stressed the need to prevent losses and damage to monsoon crops, including paddy amid heavy rains and the ongoing harvest season. He called for the expansion of high-quality local rice varieties such as Taungpyan Hmwe, Ngakywe Hmwe and Pawkywe Hmwe through seed purification and multiplication, while Aung Naing Toe rice varieties meeting target yields are to undergo purification and seed production.

He also called for advance preparations to prevent water shortages caused by climate change during the upcoming winter crop and summer paddy seasons, and urged strict attention to the use and sale of banned pesticides.

This was followed by the presentation of work plans for monsoon and winter crop production, along with sector-wise reports from regional departments. Then, regional government officials reviewed the necessary measures for boosting agricultural production and achieving target yields. And, the Chief Minister gave detailed instructions on the requirements for each crop.
