Support for Sports: 2026 Inter-Ministry Sepak Takraw Tournament

The 2026 Inter-Ministry Sepak Takraw Tournament kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

The tournament is organized by the Ministry of Sports Affairs, in cooperation with the Myanmar Sepak Takraw Federation, to promote friendship among ministries, encourage public participation in Sepak Takraw, improve the standard of the sport and develop new athletes.

President of the Myanmar Olympic Committee Union Minister U Ye Myint Tun gave opening remarks, highlighting Myanmar’s strong tradition and achievements in Sepak Takraw, including medals won at regional and international competitions. A total of 27 men’s teams from different ministries, with 264 athletes, are taking part in the tournament. The competition will run for seven days, from September 3 to 9, at Sports Hall (A) in Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex. The public can watch the matches free of charge.
