Fresher welcoming: YAU and UVS held fresher welcoming ceremony

The fresher welcoming ceremony of Yezin Agricultural University and University of Veterinary Science was held at the convocation hall of the Agricultural University, zayyarthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw on June 4 with the attendance of the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Maung Maung Naing, deputy minister Dr. Aung Gyi, members of Nay Pyi Taw Council, permanent secretary, director generals, rectors of the universities, faculty members and students who are going to study the first courses at the Agricultural University and University of Veterinary Science.

The ceremony was opened with the song of “To the Greening School” sung by the students. In his opening remark, the Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo said that the government is striving for the food security, full nutrition and the food safety regarding with the agricultural sector and addressing to raise the socio-economic status of the farmers.

In the previous fiscal year during passing the COVID-19 pandemic, the agriculture and fishing sector could fulfill 22.7% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) value and 35.1% of export value.

In those achievements, the graduates from the Agricultural University and University of Veterinary Science contributed their capacity in the supply chain included from the land preparation, growing crops and  convey to the market finally to the hands of consumers.

They played the major role along the course of supply chain and the role of Agricultural University and University of Veterinary Science is paramount important. All students are urged to try hard during the studying period to participate in the future agricultural economic production etc.

Next, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Maung Maung Naing extended words of welcoming for the fresher students.

Then, the union minister handed over sports wares and medical equipments provided by the ministry of agriculture, livestock and irrigation and the ministry of health and the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council provided cash assistance.

Those were accepted by the representatives of the students and a boy students and a girl students extended words of thanks. Afterward, the union minister and guests viewed the performance of the students and cordially greeted the first year students, it’s reported.
