COVID-19 Prevention: Vaccination Programme continues in regions and states

Ministry of Health has been conducting the COVID-19 vaccination programme in regions and states for the disease prevention and control.

On the 1st and 2nd of May, residents in 11 townships of northern Shan State, 1 township of Yangon Region, 26 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region, 11 townships of Rakhine and Chin states, 7 districts of Mandalay Region and 2 townships of Bago Region received the COVID-19 vaccines.

Also, students in 3 townships of northern Shan State and in Mon State, Tanintharyi Region, Ayeyawaddy Region, Rakhine State, Magway Region and in Bago Region received the COVID-19 vaccines.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.

However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. The Ministry of Health purchased millions of COVID-19 vaccines and also accepted millions donated by friendly countries.
