


Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win attended the ploughing ceremony of green manure (Hemp) at the field of a local farmer in Thaphyan Seik village in Eainme Township, Myaung Mya District, Ayeyawady Region on Tuesday.
At the event, the Head of the Region Agricultural Department reported on cultivation of green manure (hemp) and the yield of fertilizer from 1-acre green manure plantation. Later, the Region Chief Minister and departmental officials veiwed ploughing for cultivation of green manure (hemp) by farmers.
If the green manure (hemp) seeds are cultivated in the farm, 4 pyis of hemp seeds are needed per acre. Sowing after 45 days, it can be used as fertilizer. It can yield 13.8 tons per acre and is equavilant to 2 bags of urea fertilizer. By using green manure, it will save the cost, the head of township agricultural department said.
