Offering Gold Leaves: Plan Is Underway To Offer Gold Foils At The Pagoda

Members of Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees are planning to purchase about 15,000 plates of gold with 2x2 inches with tender system to offer the gold foils to the pagoda. They want to buy 10,000plates of gold made by machine and 5000 slabs of Myanma traditional handicraft gold leaves.

Htein Win, Member, Shwedagon Pagoda Treasury Board said “There are 376 pagodas and stupas including the main Zedi and other circling stupas in Shwedagon Pagoda platform. We offer gold coating and gold plates to the main pagoda and Naung Taw Gyi Zedi, and we also offer Myanmar gold leaves to the circling stupas and others. We plan to buy the gold leaves about 15,000. There are gold leaves made by machines and handiwork.”

The official added that they order the gold leaves systematically in accordance with the tender rule and regulations in buying.

Htein Win, Member, Shwedagon Pagoda Treasury Board said “The purpose is to get the quality gold foils. We need experts to check the quality of gold. The gold foils must have above 98.0% pure quality of gold and the weight must be over 0.40 gram per slab.”

Myanmar Gold Entrepreneurs Association will check the quality of gold in buying the gold leaves to offer to the Pagoda. The tender will be called for the gold foils from 1st to 6th June 2022 and it will be opened on 17th June.
