
In 2022-2023 fiscal year, the construction project of the international port will be implemented near Mawlamyaing Township, Mon State. According to the official from Mon State Government office, the compensation is being calculated for farmland’ loss in the current project area. The Myanmar Port Authority under the Ministry of Transportation is undertaking to pay compensation for the losses. It’s learnt that the international port and an international airport construction projects are under the guidance of Chairman of the State Administration Council on the 1st of June 2021.
Minister, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Aung Kyi Thein said “The international port will be constructed between Balauk Nyaung Waing Village and Wae Kali Village of Mudon Township. According to the field survey, the compensation need to be calculated for farmland’s losses which include 1 village-tract, 3 fields, 52 farmers,83 persons holding the Form-7, 360.63 acres of farmland, 3.84 acres of road land, 4.73 acres of dam land. To implement the concrete constructing works outside the international port, compensation is to be made for 1 village-tract, 3 fields, 26 farmers, 31 persons holding the Form-7, 23.5 acres of farmland.”
Minister, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Aung Kyi Thein said “In 2022-2023 fiscal year, the experienced companies are invited to submit bids for the construction of an international port near Mawlamyaing Township of Mon State. The project can be set up after bidding and paying compensation tasks have been settled. There will also be an international airport nearby. Mon State has a short route to connect with Thailand, and so Mon State will develop a lot after the construction of that port.”
Currently, the tenders are being invited for the construction project of the international port. The tender forms are on sale from 25th May to 3rd June at the office of Myanmar Ports Authority on Pansoedan Road in Yangon.
