Agriculture Sector: Paddy seeds, loan provided to farmers in Myeik District

To increase paddy production and for food security in Myeik District of Tanintharyi Region, under the supervision of Tanintharyi Region Government, the Myeik Corporation Public Company Limited and OK Rice Mill jointly provided paddy seeds to farmers.

Chief Minister U Myat Ko attended this ceremony at the Myeik Corporation Public Company Limited and said that this programme is to ensure rice sufficiency in Myeik District within three years.

He stressed that to increase the yield of one acre of paddy, it is necessary to change to planting good quality and pure seeds in accordance with the local water, soil and climate.

He called on the private sector and relevant departments to work together to increase paddy production and local food security. This ceremony continued with providing paddy seeds and 53.7 million Kyats of loan without interest to 53 farmers for the monsoon paddy season.

The Chief Minister also visited the farmland preparation and application of fertilizers demonstration field, the OK Rice Mill in KyaukPhyar Village and the Myeik Economic Zone to hear reports and give necessary instructions.
