









Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council, Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, Vice Senior General Soe Win met with victims of strong winds, heavy rain and flood in Mawlamyine, Chaungzon, Thanbyuzayat, Thaton and Paung townships, officials of the Mon State Disaster Management bodies and department officials in Mawlamyine.
In the meeting, the Vice Senior General heard reports on the recent disasters in Mon State and response measures.
In his response, the Vice Senior General highlighted the five-colour warning system pre-released in stages to understand the danger of cyclones.
As natural disasters are unavoidable and preparations, prevention, educating, rehearsing and cooperating must be made.
The Vice Senior General also noted that it is necessary to make preparations for consequent impacts related to tidal wave, outbreak of infected diseases and waterborne diseases.
At the meeting, the victims were provided with rice, construction materials, cash and relief supplies worth over 40 million Kyats.
The charities, members of the fire brigade, and the Red Cross Society were also presented with cash assistance.
After the meeting, the Vice Senior General inspected the status of the works carried out at the confluence of the Haungtharaw and Attaran rivers to prevent flood at the Phetkhin road and Taungwaing road and provided necessary coordination.
