World Teachers’ Day: Ministry of Education Holds Celebration on October 5

The Ministry of Education held a ceremony to celebrate 2021 World Teachers’ Day on Tuesday in Nay Pyi Taw. The Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Zaw Myint read out the message sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Also, the Deputy Minister for Education U Zaw Win read out the message sent by the Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe.

In his message, the Union Minister said the World Teachers’ Day that falls on October 5 is a day dedicated to teachers around the world who are carrying out the most important, responsible and delicate work to produce the good people of the world to bring peace to the whole world. He added the importance of education as the development of a country depends a lot on the development of education.

Teachers are the main driving force in the education sector, not only by producing qualified human resources but also by educating people in the event of a disaster or crisis. In other words, they are the people who will shape the country’s future in the post-pandemic period. He said the Ministry of Education is implementing the teacher improvement programme, teacher recruitment and promotion programmes as well as the State will support the needs of teachers in all aspects. In his message, the Union Minister also urged the teachers to take an active part in post-COVID-19 State-building activities.

At the ceremony, Secretary-General of the UNESCO National Commission for Myanmar Dr. Kyi Shwin read out a joint message from the leaders of the five UN agencies. A brief record of the activities of the distinguished people and outstanding teachers in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day was presented.
