Renaming Bridge: SAC Chairman Attended Renaming Ceremony Of The Bridge

The Chairman of State Administration Council, Commander In Chief of Defense Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a remark at the ceremony of unveiling Than Lwin Bridge (Chaungson) signboard in the morning on Tuesday.

First, the Chairman of State Administration Council, Commander In Chief of Defense Services and party were warmly welcome by the local ethnic people with the traditional dances. In his remark at the ceremony, the chairman of state administration council, commander in chief of defense services said that this ceremony of changing bridge’s name shows the basic unity concept for peace required in the country and the practical implementation of the desire of local residents which is the base of democratic system.

So, in conformity with the local people’s desire and addressing the unity, the name of the bridge is restored to Than Lwin Bridge (Chaungson). This bridge among the bridges spanned the Than Lwin River was named as Than Lwin Bridge (Chaungson) which is conformed to the desire of the local people since it was started to construct.

For the requirements of regional development, the first democracy government (2010-2015) initiated to construct this bridge. The construction project of the bridge was begun on 8th February, 2015 and completed on 9th May, 2017. The first democracy government implemented regional development of Chaungson Township including construction of this bridge and electricity supply for the township.

When the construction of bridge completed, the previous government opened the bridge with the name of Bo Gyoke Aung San Bridge for the promotion of party’s image instead the original designated name. due to such action, it was in record to debate and vote in the parliament for the giving name of the bridge as the objections emerged.

During the parliament debate, the representatives of ethnic parties, Tatmataw representatives from each parliament discussed to name it as originally designated, reflected the voice of the local ethnic people. But the ruling party advanced using the force.

The restoring bridge’s name will bring the more national unity which was desired by Bo Gyoke Aung San. Then, the SAC chairman clarified the state responsibilities by the state administration council and said the Tatmataw guarantees democracy and federal system based union urged to bear the sprit of We Are Myanmar and put the effort for the interest of the country. Afterward, the SAC chairman, commander in chief of defense services unveiled the signboard of Than Lwin Bridge by pressing the automatic button, sprinkled the bridge stone inscription with scented water and took the documentary group photo.

Then, the SAC chairman and members inspected the bridge by walking along it and instructed to keep maintenance for the lasting of the bridge, cordially greeted the local ethnic people attended the ceremony and the local residents also happily waved the hands with the traditional dances.
