Support for MSMEs: Roof tile production in Padaung

Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Thaik Soe visited Padaung Township in Bago Region on Thursday to support local pottery businesses and promote the production of roof tiles.

He met with departmental staff and pottery entrepreneurs, explaining government plans to create job opportunities, increase rural incomes, and develop cooperative-based small industries. He said the ministry will work with the Ministry of Industry to provide capital, technology, market access, and soil testing needed for roof tile production. He also instructed for the formation of industrial cooperatives.

After the meeting, the Deputy Minister visited a local pottery cooperative to observe production and discuss support for manufacturing roof tiles. He later met the staff under the ministry and encouraged them to have teamwork and successful implementation of ongoing projects.

In addition, the Deputy Minister visited a weaving and vocational training school in Shwe Taung Township, and encouraged trainees and instructors to improve skills and modernize weaving work.
