General Aung San Statue in Nay Pyi Taw is set to open in February 13th, the birthday of the late Independence Hero of the country.

Casting of bronze statue was completed 98% and it has already been conveyed to Nay Pyi Taw for finishing touches.

The statue is 18 ft high and the foundation is 15 ft high, altogether 33 ft high. It used about 7 tons of bronze.

Professor (Retd.), National University of Arts and Culture, Dr. Myint San said “For casting General Aung San statue, we first prepared the sketch painting for the approval by the committee. Then, we cast three-ft high scale model statue. Once they approved it, we made the 18-ft high mud statue, and it took about 10 months. After having approval from the committee, we continue plastering works and started bronze casting in mid-October. After about three months, we convey the statue here.”

Placing General Aung San Statue in Nay Pyi Taw aims for the youths to remember the Independence struggle, and efforts for building a union, the Leading Committee Chairman said.

Chairman, Leading Committee, Min Thu said “We have three objectives. The first one is for the next generation to know about the efforts of General Aung San made for gaining Independence and history of building a union. The next one is to place General Aung San Statue in the Capital Nay Pyi Taw. The last one is to hand down the responsible to build a democracy federal union.”

It is learnt that the cost for casting statue was spent by funds donated by the public.
