Grassroots Football Festival : Shan State Grassroots Football Festival (TGI) 2026

Under the supervision of the Shan State Government, the Shan State Grassroots Football Festival (TGI) 2026 sports event, jointly organized by the Myanmar Football Federation, the Shan State Department of Sports and Physical Education, and the Shan State Football Federation, was held at the Shan State Football Sports Ground in Taunggyi at 8 AM on January 15. Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, Chief Justice of the State High Court, State Ministers, the Secretary of the State Government, and other officials attended.

First, the athletes and the bugle corps took their positions inside the field and paid a salute to the State Chief Minister. In his opening address, Chief Minister U Aung Aung stated that today's event is very important for Myanmar's football world and is a foundational ceremony. As a member country of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Myanmar Football Federation has been organizing youth football festivals. The Shan State Grassroots Football Festival (TGI) 2026 is the first such event held by a state or region, which is a great source of pride. Youth football festivals and competitions are fundamental building blocks for the development of the country's football sports. Following this, the athletes recited the sports oath.

Afterwards, the State Chief Minister and officials greeted the athletes, and the Chief Minister presented cash award to the bugle corps.

Subsequently, the State Chief Minister and officials kicked balls into the field to officially open the (TGI) 2026. They then toured the football field to observe and encourage the children and youth practicing and playing football.

Following that, a coordination meeting was held at the meeting hall of the Shan State Government Office regarding the organization of the Union-Level MSME Exhibition and Local Products Sale Festival. The State Chief Minister attended and delivered opening remarks.

Afterwards, the Director of the State Industrial Supervision and Inspection Department explained the work carried out in the previous year and the planned work for this year. The State Chief Minister, State Ministers, and responsible officials from state-level departments supplemented the discussions, engaged in general discussions, and the State Chief Minister delivered concluding remarks.
